Are you a caviar lover? Or simply looking for ways to get new textures and tastes to your meals? This Vegan ‘Caviar’ Recipe with Seaweed is a super-easy way to add a little piquant note onto your plate. It makes a very-low-calorie spread that is rich in iodine (from algae in nori) and omega-3 (from chia seeds).
Black caviar is considered to be a delicacy among many. But the love for this treat comes at a high price to all parties involved. Oceans and seas are overfished because of the high demand for fish and seafood, and this is resulting in the destruction of marine ecosystems. Water in the ocean and seas is polluted with heavy metals that end up int the fish and, as a consequence, in human bodies. And those heavy metals can then damage and alter the organs in our bodies, and even cause cancer.
But we don’t have to pose ourselves to such a high risk. All the beneficial minerals and vitamins get from fish are found in plant sources. Just like the omega-3 fatty acids are found in chia seeds in this recipe. And as for the taste, nori gives this vegan ‘caviar’ a ‘fishy’ taste (which is, in fact, coming from algae).
Enjoy this vegan delicacy just like you would with the ‘original’ caviar: spread it on a toast or a cracker along with some vegan butter or margarine. Alternatively, you may find your own way to make the most of this recipe. Just remember to keep it refrigerated for up to 5-7 days.
Serve this vegan caviar just as you would have the original caviar. E.g., spread on a slice of bread or crisp atop some vegan butter or margarine, or on it’s own.
